MANILA, Philippines - Singer-actress Danita Paner filed yesterday a complaint against a TV5 news anchor for allegedly touching her legs at a restaurant in Pasig City Thursday.

Paner, 23, appeared before Senior Police Officer 4 Geminer Tingne of the Eastern Police District’s District Investigation and Detective Management Division to file a blotter report against Mike Templo.

Paner, daughter of former basketball player Manny Paner and former actress Daisy Romualdez, said she and her friend, actor JC de Vera, and their companions went to the Local restaurant along Julia Vargas Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

While they were seated at a table, Paner said Templo – who she believed to be drunk – approached them and allegedly touched her legs, embarrassing her in front of her companions and other restaurant customers.

She told Tingne that when De Vera went to the restroom, Templo followed and challenged him to a fistfight. However, cooler heads separated the two men before trouble erupted.

Paner said she and her companions decided to leave and look for another restaurant to avoid further trouble.

The actress was a mainstay in the TV5 drama series My Driver, Sweet Lover with De Vera.
Tingne said Paner wanted the incident recorded for “future reference.”

Templo, an immigration lawyer, is a son of former television host Mildred Ortega and retired military general Emiliano Templo.

The half-Australian/half-Filipina actress, singer and It's Showtime noontime TV show host today holds a "fashion concerto" at the SM Mall of Asia main atrium in Pasay City, Metro Manila, the Philippines near scenic Manila Bay today October 27, 2012 (Saturday) as part of the ongoing Philippine Fashion Week, it will be under the Philippine lifestyle brand Bench.

Curtis' perfume line -- available in three scents: Sweetheart, Fierce and Glamorous -- is the latest in Bench's "Celebrity Scents Collection."

Despite Anne Curtis now being the newest celebrity endorser of Bench fragrances, she remains an endorser of the the competitor clothing brand Folded & Hung and its women's wear items. It was also with Folded & Hung brand that Anne Curtis launched her first scent series in 2010

BAD FOR BRAD! Brad Pitt needed better hair, clothes & script for Chanel 5 ad!

"It's not a journey. Every journey ends but we go on… The world turns, but we turn with it. Plans disappear, dreams take over, but wherever I go, there you are."---so confusing and a bit bizarre  lines mouthed by worn-out-looking Brad Pitt in the badly-scripted Chanel 5 ad campaign!

My Comments:

Were the bosses at Chanel drunk or drugged when they approved the new Chanel 5 perfume ad campaign with celebrity endorser Hollywood actor Brad Pitt? The actor looked so unkempt, tired or washed-out or as if he had a bad day!  And he got US$7 million dollars for this ad as the first ever male celebrity endorser for this brand! It's also bad for Brad!!!  

Brad Pitt was also mouthing seemingly incoherent sentences or words which puzzled me about what he meant. What was the point of all those phrases or words? Was he mangling English or logic? Was he lost in his thoughts, tired or in a daze?

Wouldn't it have been better if Brad Pitt wore a fashionable suit or even better-looking and elegant other attire? Shouldn't Chanel the luxury brand be associated with luxury and elegance?

Or was that the original and clever intention all along, to befuddle and confuse the world so that the buzz could spread the Chanel 5 ad globally like wildfire?

Industry consultants are all over the map. Most agree on one point, though: boosting awareness of the women’s fragrance - - especially among guys with an appreciation for Pitt’s fiancee, Angelina Jolie -- probably will spur holiday sales of Chanel SAS’s best-known product.

The black-and-white commercial, which debuted this month, has gone viral, with more than 4.64 million views on YouTube, and spawned a raft of parodies. U.S. television show Saturday Night Live last weekend broadcast a spoof in which an actor sporting Pitt’s long hair and goatee mimics the ad to tout the Dorito-shell tacos sold by Yum! Brands Inc.'s Taco Bell chain.

The campaign “taps into a whole other consumer for whom Chanel No. 5 wouldn’t necessarily be front of mind,” said Jane Kellock, acting managing editor of product and design at researcher Stylus in London. The fragrance is “something that women know about and men don’t,” she said, adding that most women won’t be alienated by the ad because Pitt is handsome, even if using the celebrity is “a bit gimmicky.”

Fourth-quarter marketing is crucial for luxury goods makers as they seek to lure shoppers in the biggest selling period of the year. Fragrances are an important gift item for department stores from Macy's Inc. to Le Bon Marché in Paris, a retail segment that’s heavily dependent on November and December sales.

Men Seduced

The choice of Pitt, 48, “can serve to make guys more comfortable going to the fragrance counter,” said Andrew Sacks, founder of a namesake luxury ad agency in New York. “It makes it both cool and gives confidence to the male gift-giver.”

Film Director Joe Wright, known for his movies “Pride and Prejudice,” “Atonement” and the upcoming “Anna Karenina,” plus two Keira Knightley Coco Mademoiselle commercials, was commissioned to direct several films for No. 5, which “capture the memories, thoughts and dreams of a man being seduced by a fragrance,” Chanel said in an Oct. 15 statement.

Kate Shone, a New York-based spokeswoman for closely held Chanel, declined to comment on the campaign. Pitt was paid $7 million, plus Chanel planned to spend $10 million on U.S. advertising, Women’s Wear Daily reported Oct. 5, citing unidentified industry sources.

Chanel, revived by designer Karl Lagerfeld, doesn’t publicly disclose financial information. It ranked as the fourth most valuable luxury brand with a value of $6.68 billion, according to Millward Brown Optimor’s 2012 BrandZ study published in May.

Visually Unappealing

While Chanel, which sells mainly women’s products, should be applauded for boldly basing the campaign around a man, “I was surprised how visually unappealing he looks and simply don’t understand styling him to look so disheveled,” said Jose Bandujo, president of Bandujo Advertising & Design in New York.

“It’s as if he came to the set after shooting a movie all day,” he said. “Maybe it was an attempt to continue the idea of being different, but it just doesn’t seem to fit the sophistication and elegance of the brand.”
Daniel Spinosa, a 25-year-old medical student at Columbia University in New York, was puzzled by the script.

In the ad, Pitt says: “It’s not a journey, every journey ends but we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear, dreams take over. But wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. Chanel No. 5. Inevitable.”

“Maybe I am a simpleton,” Spinosa said. “It was unclear to me what was ‘inevitable.’”

Money’s Worth

Pitt’s monologue has no relevance to the product, said Tom Julian, a retail expert and brand consultant with a namesake firm in New York. The campaign would have worked better if Pitt had voiced over a montage of images showing more of the world of the brand and the fragrance, he said.

“Right now global brands should be telling some type of story,” said Julian, who is skeptical the campaign will boost Chanel holiday sales. Still, “they are certainly getting their money’s worth with eyeballs.”

The debate spawned by the Pitt ad has “been featured by practically every major U.S. and U.K.
publication, far exceeding the original projected reach of this campaign,” said Jessica Matthias, an account director at PR consultant Wordville Ltd. in London. “This coverage, when measured against the advertising rates of these publications, would most likely run into the hundreds of millions.”

Get Lucky

Chanel No. 5 is the world’s most famous fragrance, and made its debut in 1921, Chanel’s release said. Coco Chanel asked the perfumer, Ernest Beaux, to create a fragrance that reflected her “very modern fashion philosophy.” Five was her lucky number and it was the fifth submission presented to her on the fifth day of the fifth month of the year, hence the name of the fragrance, it said.

Ultimately, the ad will work if guys consider No. 5 when they’re looking for a gift to please their significant others for the holidays, said Doug Harrison, chief executive officer of Harrison Group LLC, a Waterbury, Connecticut-based luxury research and consulting firm.

“If Brad Pitt can keep Angelina Jolie happy and satisfied, so can other guys,” he said. “Guys think, ‘It is going to be great for me.’”

The country’s new desirable love team, Jessy Mendiola and Matteo Guidicelli, puts its chemistry to test as they team up for the first time on television to make your afternoon sizzle in ABS-CBN’s newest teleserye Precious Hearts Romances presents Paraiso premiering on November 5 (Monday) on Kapamilya Gold.

“Matteo is very professional and sweet. Ngayon ko lang siya nakatrabaho and honestly, I am very excited,” Jessy said.

Matteo, on the other hand, seems to have been captivated by her leading lady and looks forward to getting to know her better on and off cam.

“Jessy and I have a great working relationship together. I feel like she’s a deep person that makes me more interested in knowing her,” Matteo said.



In the tradition of bringing compelling dramas on passionate love, Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) once again opens its pages and tells the story about two different people who will find paradise in each other’s arms after being stranded in an uninhabited island for months.

PHR presents Paraiso follows the story of Yanie (Jessy Mendiola), a street smart and resourceful young woman who wants to alleviate her family from poverty, and Brennan, a rich married man who wants to prove his worth to his father.

A tragedy suddenly strikes in the middle of the vast ocean. The ship they’re on capsizes and the two find themselves washed ashore on a small, unoccupied island.

They start off on the wrong foot but Yanie and Brennan have no choice but to depend on each other to survive. This draws them closer together and unexpectedly paves the way for them to fall in love.

They have found paradise in each other, but it will be short-lived as authorities come to their rescue. The two part ways and face the lives they temporarily left
Brennan finds himself dealing with his marital problems with his wife Meagan (Jewel Mische), who is having a hard time conceiving a child, while Yanie starts anew after a loss in her family and gets comfort in her best friend Justin (Matt Evans).

Clint Eastwood Cuts Pro-Romney TV Ad Hitting Obama for bad USA economy 


My Comments:

I'm a big admirer of the talented Hollywood actor and director Client Eastwood, and I trust his gut instincts!

If I'm an American, I would vote for Mitt Romney for a chance to decisively turn around the USA economy.

After his famous speech at the Republican National Convention, actor hits Obama's economic policy in TV spot.

Here is a report by The Hollywood Reporter, which I'm sharing below:

The Oscar-winning actor and director made waves with his largely unscripted speech at August's Republican convention, speaking to a chair meant to be President Obama. In a new ad he has cut for the Republican Super PAC American Crossroads, Eastwood instead speaks directly into the camera.

Harnessing his salt of the earth, working-class image, Eastwood cites the nation's unemployment numbers and trade imbalance with China, telling voters in swing states -- it will air as part of a massive ad buy in seven battleground territories -- that "if someone doesn't get the job done, you gotta hold 'em accountable. Obama's second term would be a rerun of the first and our country couldn't survive that."


Following his speech at the RNC, Eastwood hit the press trail to promote his baseball family drama, The Trouble With the Curve, but did not shy away from talking politics. He told reporters that he had told the Romney campaign that they could not vet or review his speech, and that his chat with the chair was a last-minute decision.

"There was a stool there, and some fella kept asking me if I wanted to sit down,” he told his hometown paper. "When I saw the stool sitting there, it gave me the idea: I’ll just put the stool out there and I’ll talk to Mr. Obama and ask him why he didn’t keep all of the promises he made to everybody."

Romney, for his part, said that he was laughing at the speech backstage.

"You don't expect to have a guy like Clint Eastwood get up and, you know, read some speech off a teleprompter like a politician," he  said on Meet the Press. "You expect him to speak from the heart and that's exactly what he did."

Actor Piolo Pascual reveals he wants to be a pastor

ABS-CBNNEWS.com reports that in an interview with Wilson Lee Flores, which was published in the The Philippine Star's Sunday edition (April 1, 2012), actor Piolo Pascual said: "Yes, I had wanted to be a pastor, but my church (Victory Christian Fellowship) told me I'm more important where I am now because many are becoming pastors, but to be Christian in showbiz is important."

Nevertheless, the report said Pascual still hopes he'll be a pastor one day.

In the interview, the 35-year-old Pascual pointed out that he "became a born-again Christian when he was 25."

He also added that when he was younger, he had also "contemplated joining the priesthood."

The report noted: "In fact, after high school, he applied for seminary training but abandoned his plans when he got accepted at the University of Santo Tomas for college."

Honestly, I know beautiful Philippine stars Anne Curtis and Karylle are both talented in acting, singing, dancing and hosting. Both are well-read and highly-educated, they love reading books they told me. In fact, Karylle writes poetry too, she told me before. But to do daring and heart-stopping circus acts? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“It’s Showtime” hosts Anne Curtis and Karylle astounded the public when they became circus performers Monday (October 22, 2012) for the annual talent showdown of hosts that marks the third anniversary of the program.

The pair rendered a breathtaking performance which included eating shipworm (tamilok) and crickets, fire dancing, aerial acrobatics, and synchronized swimming in a bid to win the P100,000 for their chosen charity.


Yesterday (Oct 23), Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz delighted audiences with their videoke-inspired song and dance number that featured the popular
Oppa Gangnam Style, actress Cristine Reyes, child star Bugoy Carino, and the Sexbomb Girls.

The two tandems will battle fellow hosts Vhong Navarro and Billy Crawford, Vice Ganda and Jhong Hilario, Kuya Kim Atienza and Ryan Bang, and the team of Coleen Garcia, Eric ‘Eruption’ Tai, and Baby Joy who will also be performing this week. What stunts and shockers will the others come up with?

The acts were not the only revelation in the show as Diamond Star Maricel Soriano was also revealed to make a special appearance in “It’s Showtime” this week as judge for the talent face-off alongside Jericho Rosales, Eula Valdez, and talent managers Alfie Lorenzo and Cornelia Lee or Tita Angge.





The ‘pasikatan for a cause’ will also usher in the new season of the noontime program with new surprises and segments for solid Showtimers.

Meanwhile, Gollayan family of Santiago, Isabela triumphed over eight families to win P1 million in the Bida Kapamilya grand finals last Saturday (Oct 20) with their extraordinary ‘birit’ song and dance number, which earned a perfect score of 10 and a standing ovation from the judges.

Viewers also tuned in to the much-anticipated Bida Kapamilya grand finals as “It’s Showtime” registered a national TV rating of 16.4% against rival GMA’s “Eat Bulaga” with only 15.5%, based on data from Kantar Media.

The talent showdown for a cause in “It’s Showtime,” weekdays and Saturday, 11:30 a.m. sa ABS-CBN.

NEWS! 2012 London Film Festival "Best Picture" award goes to French-Belgian movie Rust and Bone by Jacques Audiard, starring Matthias Schoenaerts & Marion Cotillard. Congratulations!









Rust and Bone, Jacques Audiard's soaring French-language movie about of love, loss and killer whales, was awarded best picture at the London Film Festival on October 20, 2012.

The thriller/melodrama tells the tale of a boxer (played by actor Matthias Schoenaerts) and a whale trainer (played by Oscar Award-winning actress Marion Cotillard), and the latter suffers a tragic accident at work.

Rust and Bone (French language: De rouille et d'os) is a French-Belgian film based on Craig Davidson's  short story collection with the same name. It tells the story of an unemployed 25-year-old boxer who falls in love with a killer whale trainer.
