Congratulations to actor Jericho Rosales of the Philippines and his part-Filipina girlfriend for their wedding this Thursday on May 1, 2014 in the tropical island paradise of Boracay in central Philippines. It will be a private and intimate occasion.

Last weekend when I was in Boracay as guest of the Century Tuna Superbods competition, I heard people there saying that this much-awaited wedding shall be held at the luxury resort of Shangri-la Boracay.

The talented, smart and devout Christian actor/singer Jericho Rosales deserves happiness, we wish him well!

If celebrities like actor Arron Villaflor can have his vehicle stolen by armed crooks in broad daylight on March 8, 2014 (Saturday) in the middle of busy area of Metro Manila here in the Philippines, can ordinary citizens still feel safe? 

Where are our "leaders", the so-called "public servants" sworn and tasked to uphold peace and order, the rule of law and social harmony in our land? What are they doing? Wake up, please!

Actor Arron Villafor’s van stolen by armed men in Quezon City

A van belonging to actor Arron Villaflor was carjacked by armed men on Saturday along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.
A report from the Anti-Carnapping Unit of the Quezon City Police District said the incident happened at around 4PM.

Villaflor was not at the scene when the armed men took his Toyota Super Grandia with plate number TW4208.

The police said Jeffrey John Valdez, Villaflor’s driver, was inside the car waiting for the actor’s sister who was inside a bookstore when the two suspects approached and poked a gun at him. The two ordered him to unlock the doors and they commandeered the vehicle.

Then one of the suspects took the wheel while the other one ordered Valdez to lie face down on the floor of the car while traveling. Valdez told police investigators he overheard the one driving talking to someone on his mobile phone and mentioning the name “Niknok”.

After less than 30 minutes, the car stopped and he was told to strip off all his clothes. He was ordered to get out of the car at the Mindanao Avenue-North Luzon Expressway interchange where he was found naked by patrolling NLEX security.

Villaflor’s sister, Nikki, told investigator that she was about to exit the bookstore’smain door when she saw two armed men enter the vehicle. She decided not to get out, sensing danger.

The police were still investigating the incident.

Villaflor is an ABS-CBN talent who last appeared regularly on the TV series “Juan de la Cruz” last year.

Jessy Mendiola of the Philippines is Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism! Congratulations!

JESSY MENDIOLA, CHOSEN AS HONORARY AMBASSADOR FOR KOREAN TOURISM

The Philippines' “Maria Mercedes” television drama series star Jessy Mendiola flew to Korea last night October 29, 2013 to meet with the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) for her ceremonial appointment as Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism.

This is a great marketing idea, I suggest our Department of Tourism (DOT) under advertising whiz Secretary Mon Jimenez consider also hiring or inviting a Korean celebrity or VIP to be our ambassador for Philippine tourism? We know that South Korea is one of Asia's wealthiest nations, and many of their tourists like the Philippines already and most specially our beach destination of Boracay. Perhaps DOT can also seek out a Chinese celebrity to be our goodwill ambassador for Philippine tourism not only in China, but to include majority ethnic Chinese societies like Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau?

The beautiful actress and model Jessy will immediately attend to her duties as ambassador in her five-day trip as she is slated to meet with KTO Chairman Charm Lee and go around the country’s famous tourist spots to promote Korea’s tourism to Philippines.

“I am very honored and thankful that the KTO chose me as ambassador. The Koreans are very nice to me when I visited their country and they instantly became dear to my heart,” said Jessy.

The newest Philippine TV primetime princess is no stranger to Korea since she’s been there for several times to do the KBS show “World Date with Shinee” and to do some photo shoots for a magazine. She was also chosen by a Korean mobile messaging application as endorser.

Jessy currently sizzles the Philippine television screens as “Maria Mercedes” every weeknights on primetime.

Dawn believes that scrapping the pork barrel will solve the corruption.

“Let’s just remove the pork barrel from them,” she said.

“At least, we are able to determine the ones serving sincerely,” Assunta stated agreeing on Dawn’s statement.

Dawn and Assunta also talk about their personal lives and how they adjust from celebrity world to politics.

Dawn, the wife of Davao del Norte Rep. Anton Lagdameo Jr., said she did not want her husband to be involved in politics at first, but when opportunity to serve the country knocked on Anton’s door, she decided to support him nonetheless.

“The politics and entertainment industry are almost similar. When he needs me, I am always beside him,” Dawn said.

Meanwhile, Assunta, who has been married to Negros Occidental Rep. Jules Ledesma for ten years, shares her desire of having their first baby.

“After the elections, I told him that this time, I should be one of his top priorities since he is now on his last term. I’m just saying that he could slow down and think of a family,” Assunta said.

Nagpahayag ng malaking panghihinayang sina Dawn Zulueta at Assunta de Rossi, parehong asawa ng mga kongresista, sa diumano’y paglustay sa Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) o pork barrel ng ilang mambabatas sa Tapatan Ni Tunying ngayong Huwebes (Setyembre 19).

Paniwala ni Dawn aktres, ang tuluyang pagbasura sa pork barrel ang reresolba sa kurapsyon.

“Tanggalin na lang natin ang pork barrel mula sa kanila,” saad niya.

“Dito, malalaman talaga natin kung sinu-sino ‘yong mga taos-pusong naglilingkod,” sabi ni Assunta bilang pagsang-ayon kay Dawn.

Samantala, pinarating naman ni Assunta ang kasabikan nito na magkaroon ng panganay na anak gayong sampung taon na rin silang kasal ni Negros Occidental Rep. Jules Ledesma.

“Pagkatapos ng eleksyon, sabi ko, sana ako naman ‘yong maging prayoridad niya tutal huling termino na niya ito. Ang sinasabi ko lang, dahan-dahan muna sa pulitika at isipin naman mina ang pamilya,” sabi ni Assunta.

Sarah Geronimo & Daniel Padilla movie would become biggest box office hit in the Philippines, agree?

I believe that to create the biggest record-breaking box office hit in the Philippines, there should be a movie starring the talented singer/actress Sarah Geronimo and the rising star actor Daniel Padilla. This is what I would do if I'm a movie producer like Star Cinema. If just in case they do produce this, don't forget to pay me royalty for this idea??? Joke only.

Seriously, this my proposal for a new movie, do you agree? Why or why not?

Here are some of my reasons...

#1. Both are young, though Daniel is 7 years younger, Sarah still looks and acts very young.

#2. Sarah has genuine charisma, is a natural comedian, acts well, Daniel is naturally talented.

#3. Daniel is more popular than John Lloyd Cruz and ideal as a younger guy, while Sarah Geronimo is I think more ideal than Kathryn Bernardo too? :)

#4. Both superstars have huge followings among the young generation, they are the ideal movie partners.

#5. Sarah has squeaky clean & wholesome image, while Daniel can be cultivated to be rugged and a bit roguish or rebellious in movie character, so they can act in an interesting hit film?

If I were a movie producer, I would pair these two stars and break Philippine box office records!

Tonight---July 29, 2013---I met and briefly chatted with actresses Lorna Tolentino and Gretchen Barretto of the Philippines at the opening of the Naci Comfort Food Restaurant at Unit 3, Two Parkade, 7th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City, Metro Manila, the Philippines. 

By the way, the foods were delicious and the music was delightful. The opening night was dedicated in memory of their former consultant Chef Ed Quimson, who died last year reportedly at only age 48.

How come Lorna Tolentino looked younger than Gretchen Barretto, despite the eights years gap between the two, was it because of Gretchen's make-up or Lorna's shorter hair?

Lorna told me she just starred in the indie film entitled Burgos, which is the tale of a mother's endless search for a lost son---Edith Burgos and Jonas Burgos---who was a young leftist activist believed to have been abducted by the Philippine military. Lorna plays the role of Edith Burgos.

Other celebrities present at the inaugural of Naci resto included actress Julia Montes, Gretchen's boyfriend businessman Antonio "Tony Boy" Cojuangco, and others.

The foods at Naci restaurant are very delicious. The three owners are businessman Naci Nocom, Chevrolet car dealer Milton Ngu and former ABS-CBN 2 talent, De La Salle University graduate and beautiful the young entrepreneur Natasha Villaroman. Natasha was recently a TV commercial model for Olay.

Former TV5 actor JC de Vera of the Philippines has just today transferred to ABS-CBN 2, he was formerly managed by Anabelle Rama. Congratulations!

Now the various young actors of this network shall have new competition, this is a smart strategy of the Lopezes of ABS-CBN 2, to nurture and encourage numerous actors and actresses, so not being just dependent on a few big superstars who can easily transfer or be pirated by others when their contracts expire. Nobody is indispensible?

Actor JC De Vera is now officially a Kapamilya after signing a two-year contract with ABS-CBN today (July 29, 2013).

“Admittedly, I am nervous and I am very overwhelmed because it’s a dream come true to be a Kapamilya,” said JC.  He revealed that he will start taping for an upcoming teleserye in August. He also said that he is open to do any role whether for drama, action, and even comedy. “I am very willing to do all the projects the management will offer,” he said.
